How the check works
When you enter an EORI number, we query the EU's official validation service. It responds with whether the number is registered and valid. If the holder has consented to publication, the company name and address are shown as well.
What the result means
- Valid & registered — the number exists in the EU database and can be used in customs declarations.
- Not found — the number isn't registered. Check the spelling, or whether the number has been activated yet.
- Invalid format — the number doesn't follow the pattern country code + identifier, for example DE123456789012345.
Checking a UK (GB) number?
Valid number, but no company name?
No cause for concern: the name and address only appear when the holder has explicitly consented to publication. A valid number without a name is just as valid.
Can't find your own number?
The tool validates a known number — the EU database offers no search by company name. If you don't have a number yet, our EORI guide explains where to apply in each country.
